Short Story – a stunning two-tone colour blocked sweater!

We are delighted that Susanne Sommer named her design after the yarn she created it in, On Stage - Short Stories.

This sweater seduces with its simplicity and clear lines. It is knit in a clever seamless modular sideways construction, making it very interesting to knit.

Starting with a provisional cast-on at the colour-change to the right of the neckline, the sweater is worked towards the cuffs to both sides. The hem is knit concurrently as a double-knit edge. The cuffs and neckline feature twisted ribbing for some textural interest, both can be worked in a single or double layer.

Short Story has a casual fit that can be tailored to your preferences. With 8 body and sleeve circumferences, 8 lengths from cropped to tunic-length, and 3 neckline options to choose from, you can mix and match to create your dream sweater.

5 kits are set up including the amount of yarn needed to knit the size and length you choose.

How to select your kit corresponding to your size:

1. Choose your bust circumference including positive ease. Pick a size that is about 10-15 cm / 4-6” wider than your bust circumference (body measurement). Less ease will result in a tighter-fitting sweater, more ease will result in a more over-sized sweater.

2. Choose your desired length of your sweater, e.g. a (b, c, d, e)[f, g, h]. Remember that the hem will add an extra 3 cm, 1 ¼ “ to the finished length.

3. Select the corresponding kit (1 - 5), according to the list below.

1) Size 1 a-h, 2 a-f & 3 a-b: 3x MC + 2x CC = 5 skeins total
2) Size 3c, 4a: 4x MC + 2x CC = 6 skeins total
3) Size 2 g-h, 3 d-h, 4 b-h, 5 a-g, 6 a-e, 7 a-d, 8 a-b: 4x MC + 3x CC = 7 skeins total
4) Size 5h, 6f: 5x MC + 3x CC = 8 skeins total
5) Size 6 g-h, 7 e-h, 8 c-h: 5x MC + 4x CC = 9 skeins total
